Types of Difficult People

There are many types of difficult people listed below. It is important that you understand and recognize who these types of people are and what they are like.

Bootlickers

Bootlickers feel that the quickest and shortest way to the top is to totally dedicate themselves to managers and no one else in the organization, which means fellow co-workers suffer. The sad thing is that many managers encourage bootlickers because they feel a sense of importance from them. These types of people are hard to ignore and most of the time you will feel angry and insecure.

Bullies

Bullies tend to ridicule, threaten, and physically or mentally abuse people to get what they want. Normally, bullies are highly insecure themselves and have major personal problems. They are not too choosy on who the bully and normally bully people into doing work that they are supposed to do themselves.

Back Stabbers

Back stabbers tend to be nice, pleasant and helpful on the surface but this just enables them to gather inside information and then use it to cause trouble. This type of person will in some way make sure the rest of the office know that you made a terrible mistake or under performed at something.

They may also let the authorities know something about your personal life that will ruin your reputation or they may even make sure that someone else gets the credit for something that you slaved over. This type of person can cause a serious amount of damage to you and your reputation.

Saboteurs

These type of people are probably the most difficult to work with. They disrupt the peace and harmony wherever they want and most of the time their influence is extremely negative. Normally, these are the type of people that cause important documents to be misplaced, certain gossip about you happens to be found out by your supervisor or manager, or sometimes your Internet connection becomes mysteriously disconnected.

These type of difficult people tend to be extremely clever and can cause an incredibly amount of damage. It is also important to remember that this type of person is extremely difficult to catch out, will cause you extreme stress and can take up quite a lot of your valuable time.

People who are always late

This type of person may have extremely bad work habits or may just be an attention seeker (ie negative attention is better than none as far as they are concerned). When these types of people are always late then they end up disturbing fellow workers and the work flow is interrupted. It also means that managers or supervisors need to spend additional time speaking with them, which in turn means that the workforce is being neglected needlessly. These types of people end up being resented by others who in turn use up more energy resenting them and end up working less.

Wheeler – dealers

These people are usually power seekers that will stop at nothing to get what they want. They may use blackmail or spread their own gossip to help themselves. This type of person’s goal is to obtain a position of strength, which once they have, will use to gain other things such as a promotion or a pay rise.
